What's a Writeous Babe?

The Writeous Babe Project began in August 2011 when I decided I wanted a virtual room of my own.  Since 2008 I’d been blogging at GeorgiaMae.com, a website named for my late grandmother but a site that I shared with my husband.  My posts on feminism and his posts on urban music meant the blog lacked the focus it needed to grow. Eventually the Writeous Babe Project was born.

The Writeous Babe Project began as a blog meant to chronicle my efforts to be a journalist on my own terms, which I set out to do when I left my full-time reporting job in 2009. I wanted the blog to be a resource for other journalistas. But my passion for feminism led me to continue blogging about women's issues as well.

Today the Writeous Babe Project is not only a resource for women writers but also examines representations of women in the media and explores ways women can incorporate feminism in every aspect of their daily lives from faith and family to fitness and fashion.

I have some stories. I want to look good while I share them. And, no, I don’t think that makes me a bad feminist. It makes me a Writeous Babe.
