My Word for the Year

Friday, January 6, 2017

We're almost there. We've almost made it through the first week of 2017.

How did you do?

Did you tackle to-do lists like a boss? Did you go to the gym every day? Did you start working on your book?

If not, that's OK. Give yourself a bit of grace.

Grace -- that's my word for 2017.

Grace is my word for the year because I need a reminder to be gentle with myself, because sometimes I need to give myself a break and others the benefit of doubt.

This doesn't meant 2017 won't be the year of the hustle. I plan to work harder than I ever have before to make all of my 2017 dreams come true.

But sometimes gumption and grit aren't enough. Sometimes you need grace.

Sometimes you can't rely solely on willpower. Sometimes you need a higher power. If you're a person of faith, perhaps that power is God. If not, perhaps that power is a belief in your muse or a belief in the causes you defend. Whatever it may be, believe in something bigger than yourself. Believe that this power will give you all you need to do the things you need to do. Believe this power will give you grace.

What's your word for the year?

  1. This was not the word I was expecting you to present but it is perfect! I really want to take your word because it's day 7 and I'm already behind and I have not given myself any grace about it. So I will select endurance as my word because I want to endure until the end and that will require grace :)

  2. My word for then coming year was change. SO I started it by using some cheap essay writing coupon and it came out nice. Then I graduated from college and got job in that exactly service! I left my bf and moved in other city. Cut hair. Chnaged job again. It came out pehaps a little bit more changeable than I expected. Let's see what's next!
